The five signs of fatty liver disease can include yellow eyes and skin (jaundice), bruising, dark urine, a swollen tummy, and vomiting blood. Itchy skin and black stools (also known as poos) are additional symptoms that may also indicate fatty liver disease.

1. Jaundice: Yellow eyes and skin, also called jaundice, can be a sign of liver damage. When the liver is not functioning properly, it may not be able to process bilirubin, a yellow pigment produced during the breakdown of red blood cells. This buildup of bilirubin can cause the yellow discoloration in the eyes and skin.
2. Bruising: Individuals with fatty liver disease may find that they bruise easily. This could be due to impaired liver function and the inability to produce enough blood-clotting factors. As a result, even minor injuries can lead to excessive bruising.
3. Dark urine: Dark urine can be a symptom of liver disease. The liver is responsible for filtering waste products from the blood, and when it is compromised, these waste products can build up and be excreted in urine. The accumulation of these waste products can cause the urine to become dark in color.
4. Swollen tummy: Fatty liver disease can lead to the accumulation of fat in the liver, causing it to enlarge. This enlargement can lead to a swollen or distended abdomen. The swelling can be caused by the accumulation of fluids in the abdominal cavity, a condition known as ascites.
5. Vomiting blood: In more advanced cases of fatty liver disease, individuals may experience vomiting blood, which is a serious symptom of liver damage. This can occur as a result of the liver becoming severely inflamed or developing scar tissue, which can lead to internal bleeding.
It is important to note that these signs alone may not be sufficient to diagnose fatty liver disease conclusively. A medical professional should be consulted to conduct further tests and evaluation to confirm a diagnosis and recommend appropriate treatment.
